West Forsyth Alumni Ja'Quan McMillian and Jared Wilson Set to Clash in AFC Championship |
Former Titans teammates face off with Super Bowl berth at stake |
Two former West Forsyth High School football standouts are poised to face each other in the upcoming AFC Championship Game, with a coveted spot in the Super Bowl on the line.
Ja'Quan McMillian, a cornerback for the Denver Broncos, and Jared Wilson, a center for the New England Patriots, both honed their skills at West Forsyth before advancing to collegiate and professional football careers.
McMillian, born in 2000 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, excelled at West Forsyth before playing college football at East Carolina University. After going undrafted in 2022, he signed with the Broncos and has since become a key player in their defense. Notably, McMillian's overtime interception against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round was instrumental in securing the Broncos' 33-30 victory, propelling them to the AFC Championship.
Wilson showcased his talents at West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, North Carolina, before committing to the University of Georgia. Selected by the Patriots in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Wilson has been lauded for his "special physical traits" and is viewed as a cornerstone for the Patriots' offensive line.
The AFC Championship Game is scheduled for Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. This matchup marks the sixth playoff meeting between the Broncos and Patriots, with Denver holding a 4-0 record in postseason games played at home against New England.
For the West Forsyth community, this game is a testament to the school's ability to develop talent that thrives at the highest levels of the sport. Fans and alumni are eagerly anticipating this showdown, proud to see their former Titans making significant impacts on the national stage.
As the Broncos and Patriots prepare for this pivotal game, local eyes will be on McMillian and Wilson, whose journeys from West Forsyth to the NFL spotlight serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes in their hometowns. |
