SBA Home and Davie Industrial Center Celebrate Grand Opening |
Mocksville, North Carolina, has recently become a focal point in the furniture manufacturing industry with the establishment of SBA Home's first U.S. production facility as they celebrated their grand opening this past Wednesday.
This significant development is set to invigorate the local economy and reinforce the region's longstanding reputation in furniture production
SBA Home, a prominent Lithuanian furniture manufacturer, has invested approximately $70 million to transform a 500,000-square-foot building at 134 Gildan Drive in the Davie Industrial Center into a state-of-the-art, highly automated furniture production facility.
The plant produces ready-to-assemble furniture for major retailers, including IKEA, adding new product lines such as the Kallax storage cube series and the Billy customizable bookshelves to their offerings.
Production started in October, 2025 with 100 employees, with plans to employ around 250 individuals in roles ranging from manufacturing and warehousing to administration and management.
These positions offer an average annual wage of $53,470, exceeding Davie County's current average wage, and could create a potential payroll impact of more than $13.3 million each year.
The decision to establish operations in Mocksville was influenced by several factors, including the availability of a suitable facility, a strong local workforce, and the region's rich history in furniture manufacturing.
There are more than 800 furniture companies in NC. North Carolina's reputation as the furniture capital of the world continues to attract growing manufacturers that need a world-class workforce to meet the demand of their global customers.
To support this venture, SBA Home received a state economic development grant valued at about $1.9 million and incentives from Mocksville and Davie County worth approximately $800,000.
Lithuanian ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis said he is glad the investment lines up with the Trump administration's priorities to bring manufacturing back to the United States.
"The U.S. government wants the business that relocated to foreign countries to come back, but they are also very happy when foreign investors do those investments here in order to open their factories and their production facilities to cater to the U.S. market," he said.
These incentives underscore the community's commitment to fostering economic growth and attracting international investment.
In addition to economic contributions, SBA Home has demonstrated a commitment to the local community by funding the construction of new pickleball courts at Rich Park and pledging 200 volunteer hours annually to local initiatives.
This engagement reflects the company's dedication to becoming an integral part of the Mocksville community.
The establishment of SBA Home's facility in Mocksville is expected to have a ripple effect on the local economy, stimulating growth in related sectors including increased demand for Mocksville homes for sale and reinforcing the region's status as a hub for furniture manufacturing.
As operations ramp up, the community anticipates not only job creation but also increased economic activity and innovation in the industry.
In summary, the arrival of SBA Home in Mocksville marks a significant milestone in the town's industrial development.
With substantial investment, job creation, and community engagement, this venture is poised to drive growth and innovation in the local furniture manufacturing sector, solidifying Mocksville's position in the industry for years to come.
Located about 15 minutes from the Lewisville-Clemmons I-40 exit, the new furniture plant offers convenient employment opportunities for local residents. |
