Titans Rule the CPC: West Forsyth Claims Championship in 11-Inning Marathon

Titans secure Central Piedmont Conference Tournament title in 11-inning walk-off thriller at Reagan High School.

In a game that will be talked about in the Lewisville and Clemmons community for years to come, the West Forsyth Titans softball team proved exactly why they are the class of the Central Piedmont Conference. In a grueling, three-hour marathon last Thursday night at Reagan High School, the Titans outlasted the third seed, East Forsyth, 3-2 in an 11-inning battle to claim the CPC Tournament Championship.

The victory was more than just a trophy for the mantel; it was a testament to the "never-quit" attitude that has defined the Titans' season.

Back from the Brink For much of the evening, it looked like East Forsyth might walk away with the title. The Titans found themselves trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs and no one on base. With their backs against the wall, the Titans’ bats finally came alive. Lilliana Parker delivered the hit of the night—a clutch RBI double that tied the game and sent the Clemmons faithful into a frenzy.

A Pitching Performance for the Ages While the hitters provided the late-game heroics, the night belonged to Morgan Maxwell. She put on a masterclass in the circle, pitching all 11 innings. Maxwell finished the night with a staggering 18 strikeouts, keeping a potent East Forsyth lineup off-balance for over three hours. It was a classic pitching duel, as East Forsyth’s Allie Cox was equally sharp, going 10.2 innings and recording 11 strikeouts of her own.

Freshman Heroics As the game moved into the 11th inning, the tension at Reagan High School was palpable. With the score tied at 2-2 and two outs, freshman Jessica Makkas found herself on third base. In a daring display of baserunning, Makkas spotted an opening on a passed ball and sprinted for home. Her slide beat the tag, sealing the 3-2 victory and sparking a massive celebration at home plate.

Building Momentum for State The championship win avenges a regular-season loss to the Eagles and extends the Titans' winning streak to nine games. As West Forsyth enters the NCHSAA state playoffs this week, they do so as a battle-tested unit that knows how to win when the pressure is highest.

For the fans in Lewisville and Clemmons, this championship isn't just a win—it’s a reminder of the grit and talent of our local student-athletes. Congratulations to the Titans on a historic CPC title!
