Business Spotlight: Multisensory Minds Is Bringing Specialized Learning Support Right Here to Clemmons |
Two Veteran Educators. One Powerful Mission. |
If you have a child who struggles with reading, writing, or math — not because they aren't trying, but because their brain simply processes information differently — there's a new resource right here in the Lewisville-Clemmons community that was built specifically for them. Stick with us to the end — we've got an exclusive deal for We Love Lewisville-Clemmons readers. Multisensory Minds is a specialized learning center located in Clemmons, founded by two veteran educators whose combined six-plus decades of experience are now focused entirely on neurodiverse learners. Their mission is direct and personal: to support students through individualized, evidence-based instruction that builds strong academic foundations and, just as importantly, lasting confidence. Meet the Founders The heart of Multisensory Minds is its co-founders, Jessica Kennedy and Carey French — two educators who didn't just meet a resume requirement; they built careers around the students who needed someone in their corner the most. Jessica Kennedy, B.A., SPED brings 19 years of experience as a licensed K–6 Elementary Teacher and K–12 Special Education Teacher. Her background spans general education classrooms, resource services, self-contained programs, inclusion environments, and one-on-one language development — giving her an unusually wide lens on how students learn and where they get stuck. Jessica has worked with students facing dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, autism, ADHD, selective mutism, traumatic brain injuries, chromosome disorders, and complex executive functioning challenges. She is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach and has completed extensive professional development in Multisensory Math, LETRS, Zones of Regulation, and more. The wider education community has taken notice: Jessica was honored as Teacher of the Year at her previous school and was recognized at the state level as a Special Education Educator of Excellence by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Carey French, M.A., A/OGA brings more than 25 years of classroom, small group, and intervention experience across reading, writing, and math. She holds a Master's in Reading Education (K–12), an undergraduate multi-subject (K–8) degree, and preschool certification — a breadth that allows her to support learners from their earliest years through the upper elementary grades. Carey is an Associate-level member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy and has completed advanced training in Structured Literacy, Fundations, The Writing Revolution, and OG-aligned multisensory mathematics instruction. Her specialties include supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges. She stays deeply engaged with current research through active membership in professional reading organizations and two international professional educator honor societies. Her honors include the Johnson Academic Center Rhyne Award and two Teacher of the Year recognitions, including a county-level finalist distinction. Together, Jessica and Carey built Multisensory Minds around a shared belief: every learner is capable of success when provided the right support. How They Support Students Multisensory Minds offers one-on-one, in-person specialized instruction tailored to each student's unique learning profile. Their approach draws from structured literacy principles, the Orton-Gillingham method, and multisensory learning strategies that engage visual, auditory, and hands-on pathways simultaneously — the way many neurodiverse brains are wired to learn best. Their programs span a wide range of needs: Early Literacy Foundations for young readers just getting started, Structured Literacy for students with dyslexia, Handwriting and Written Expression for students who struggle with dysgraphia or organizing their thoughts on paper, Early Math Skills and Math Fluency for students who need a stronger number sense foundation, and Executive Function and Study Skills for students who need help with planning, organization, and task initiation. The process starts with an initial intake assessment conducted over two to three sessions to understand a child's specific learning profile and identify any gaps. From there, parents receive a full consultation with findings and a personalized learning plan before instruction begins. Summer Camps — And Early Registration Deals With summer just around the corner, Multisensory Minds has announced three themed learning camps — and families who register before June 1st save $50 per camp.
