Crescent Communities Plans Second Build-to-Rent Townhome Project in Clemmons

Crescent Communities, a Charlotte-based developer, has announced plans for HARMON Clemmons, its second build-to-rent townhome project in the area.

The proposed 21-acre community near Lewisville-Clemmons Road and I-40 will feature 154 townhomes with private yards, garages, and amenities like an outdoor pool and clubhouse.

Senior Managing Director Tony Chen explained the demand for rental homes is rising as high mortgage rates push families to seek alternatives to ownership.

Some Clemmons residents, however, worry that more rentals could impact property values and change the community’s character, fueling a debate over suburban development.

This project highlights a wider trend in North Carolina, with over 12,000 new single-family rentals added statewide in 2025—driven by job growth and remote workers.

As construction is set to begin, Clemmons faces weighing growth opportunities against preserving its local identity.

Forsyth Country Day Secures Second NCISAA Boys Basketball State Championship in Three Years

Forsyth Country Day captured the NCISAA 4A boys basketball state championship with a spirited 69-59 win over Providence Day at Greensboro’s Novant Health Fieldhouse.

Facing an early 10-point gap, the Furies seized momentum in the final minute of the opening quarter with a spectacular coast-to-coast slam by Jayon Connor, followed by an alley-oop to Prince Nwokemodo.

Connor energized his team with 10 first-half points, while JR Adams and the Furies’ reliable free-throw shooting secured control.

Providence Day battled back, but foul trouble hampered their efforts.

Nwokemodo’s bursts in the paint and a strong backcourt performance from Connor, Q Williams, and Adams (40 points combined) proved decisive.

This triumph marks Forsyth Country Day’s third state championship — and second in three years — capping off an impressive 29-3 season.

Providence Day finished 23-7, led by Zeke Battier’s 16 points, cementing a memorable season for both programs.

Williams Development Group Proposes $4 Million Housing Project at Tanglewood Business Park

Williams Development Group, a well-known developer in Winston-Salem, has submitted a $4 million offer to purchase and transform the 167-acre Tanglewood Business Park near Clemmons into a residential neighborhood.

The property, owned by Forsyth County since 2000 and located two miles from Interstate 40, was previously intended for industrial use but has remained mostly vacant.

Williams Development envisions a community that includes affordable housing to meet HUD guidelines, supporting Forsyth County’s push for more accessible homeownership.

Concerns have surfaced about added traffic, particularly along Middlebrook Drive, with the Clemmons Village Council requesting a thorough traffic study before the project can proceed.

The transformation would also require rezoning and removal of current industrial restrictions.

County Commissioners will soon decide whether to accept this proposal, opening a brief period for competing bids and shaping Clemmons’ future development path.

Dr. Jason Selk, a leading performance coach, highlights that the challenge isn’t making resolutions, but sticking to them.

Drawing on his expertise, Dr. Selk underscores mental toughness as the foundation for habit change.

Success begins with a clear decision, followed by rituals that make new actions automatic.

He introduces the concept of a “fight-thru” — moments when motivation falters and persistence is tested.

Winning a few of these internal battles is what leads to lasting habits.

Selk advises scheduling habits, recognizing resistance, asking how you’ll feel if you win or lose, and visualizing future results.

Vigilance against discouragement, routine disruptions, and complacency is crucial.

Meet the King of the Stable. No VIP Required

The King of the Stable

The quiet Judean hills, under a sky filled with stars, set the stage for Elias, a humble shepherd, to witness a world-changing event.

While considered insignificant in society, Elias is chosen to receive the news of a Messiah’s birth—not in a palace, but in an overcrowded, noisy Bethlehem.

The angel’s message leads Elias to a limestone cave, where he finds a newborn king resting in a humble manger, surrounded by the scent of animals and straw.

Elias realizes the true message: God’s arrival breaks down every social barrier, extending an invitation not just to nobles, but to ordinary people too.

This story, echoing through the Christmas season, reminds us that the gift of belonging and salvation is accessible for all, regardless of status or circumstance.

Everyone—no matter how ordinary—has a place at the table.

Anticipation Builds Ahead of December 10 Fed Announcement Amid Mortgage Rate Speculations

December 10, 2025, stands out as a pivotal day for financial markets, with the Federal Reserve set for a highly anticipated rate decision that has investors watching closely.

Market analysts put the odds of a 25-basis-point rate cut at 87.2%, but uncertainty remains higher than in past meetings.

This unpredictability may spark unexpected moves across financial sectors and influence key market trends.

The meeting will also unveil the Fed’s closely watched "dot plot," potentially revealing a cautious stance on future cuts for 2026.

Any signals from Chair Jerome Powell’s post-meeting press conference are expected to strongly shape investor mood and market direction.

The delayed release of November's employment data further clouds the outlook, as labor insights arrive after the Fed's decision.

Locally, Portland’s housing market has seen values dip for the first time since 2012, while high mortgage rates—currently averaging 6.19%—continue to restrain buyer activity.

This crucial Fed meeting is set to define the economic narrative for months ahead.

Winterize Your Car: Essential Mechanic Tips for Safe Winter Driving

As the Piedmont Triad braces for winter weather, preparing your vehicle is essential for both safety and performance during colder months.

Neil Gilpin of Village Auto Care in Clemmons highlights the importance of preventive maintenance—checking batteries, tire pressure, and engine antifreeze—to avoid winter troubles.

Cold temperatures can drain car batteries quickly, so have yours tested and keep terminals clean.

Ensuring the right antifreeze mix protects your engine from freezing, while regular tire pressure and tread checks boost traction on slick roads.

Consider winter tires for added grip in snow and ice.

Visibility is key—replace wiper blades and use winter-grade washer fluid to prevent freezing, and always check that headlights and taillights are in working order.

Carrying an emergency kit with blankets, water, and jumper cables is a practical safeguard in case of roadside trouble.

Smart driving habits and preparation help keep local drivers safe all winter.

The Hough Huskies surged into the NCHSAA 8A West Regional final after overpowering West Forsyth 28-10 in a pivotal playoff clash.

Quarterback Ethan Royal proved unstoppable, tossing three touchdown passes and igniting the Huskies' high-powered offense.

Despite West Forsyth's top-ranked defense, which hadn’t allowed more than 10 points since September, the Titans struggled to slow Hough’s dynamic attack.

Royal’s pinpoint throws found Jayden White, Jahmere Anderson, and Mason Pearsall-Brown for scores, while Jason Wilkerson’s key interception set up a crucial touchdown run by Jamarion Morrison.

The Titans kept fighting, highlighted by Haines Robitzer’s 27-yard touchdown strike, but untimely penalties and Hough’s relentless pace kept West Forsyth at bay.

With the win, Hough now prepares to host West Charlotte for a shot at the state championship.

Duke Health's Drone Initiative Revolutionizes Emergency Response in Clemmons

Every second matters in a cardiac emergency.

Duke Health has launched a pioneering drone program in Clemmons, North Carolina, delivering automated external defibrillators (AEDs) directly to 911 callers.

Designed to reduce delays from traffic and distance, these drones fly at up to 40 mph, reaching patients faster than traditional emergency crews.

Arriving within minutes, each drone lowers an AED for bystanders to use immediately, guided step-by-step by emergency operators.

Dr. Monique Starks from Duke Health said speeding up AED access could raise survival rates from 10% to as high as 70%.

Initial tests show drone response times now beat ambulances by several vital minutes, especially in rural zones.

This innovation, supported by Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough, could become a national model and dramatically boost survival chances for local residents facing cardiac arrest.

Rare Aurora Borealis Illuminates North Carolina Skies Amid Severe Geomagnetic Storm

The aurora borealis dazzled North Carolina skies on November 11 and 12, 2025, as a powerful geomagnetic storm triggered rare northern lights far beyond their usual range.

This spectacle followed a G4 severe storm watch from NOAA, spurred by recent coronal mass ejections bombarding Earth’s magnetic field.

Pink and green waves lit up the sky from cities like Charlotte to Raleigh, and the glow reached as far south as Alabama, a testament to the storm’s exceptional strength.

The University of Alaska’s Geophysical Institute pinpointed prime viewing hours and urged north-facing spots away from city lights for the best experience.

As the sun nears its solar maximum, experts predict more aurora sightings across the South, inviting residents to keep watch for future celestial shows.

North Carolinians now look upward with renewed wonder, reminded of the sun’s profound influence over our skies.

West Forsyth Traffic Woes Continue Despite 2024 NCDOT Study

Traffic congestion at West Forsyth High School continues to frustrate parents and commuters, with no clear timeline for relief despite a recent NCDOT study focused on solutions.

In November 2024, the North Carolina Department of Transportation suggested extending the school’s car line and rerouting the exit toward Southwest School Road to keep vehicles off Lewisville-Clemmons Road.

While the Village of Clemmons approved funding for these changes in March, the start date is still pending.

In the interim, several parents received citations from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office for stopping roadside during pick-up and drop-off.

Community members, like parent Renae Franks, support rerouting traffic as the most effective fix, especially since expanding Lewisville-Clemmons Road is not feasible.

Residents continue to call for urgent action to ease daily traffic headaches near the high school.
