Lewisville's Own Austin Dillon Posts Career-Best Road Course Finish at Watkins Glen

Lewisville’s own Austin Dillon scored his best road course finish ever with a sixth-place run at Watkins Glen International, shaking off a challenging history on twisting tracks.

Dillon started 25th but smart strategy from crew chief Richard Boswell, including a bold early pit stop, catapulted him into the top 10 for much of the race.

Flawless fuel management and steady driving netted Dillon not only his first top 10 since last August, but also helped Richard Childress Racing put two drivers—Dillon and teammate Kyle Busch—in the top 10 for the first time since the previous year.

Ty Dillon, Austin’s younger brother, finished a disappointing 33rd after mid-race strategy didn’t pay off, while Kaulig Racing teammate AJ Allmendinger surged to seventh.

With the NASCAR All-Star Race in Dover up next, Austin’s momentum is real—and local fans are rallying behind his hard-earned breakthrough on the national stage.

$4.9M Bid to Turn Tanglewood Business Park into Housing Hub

Arden Homes, based in Winston-Salem, has submitted a $4.9 million bid for the 167-acre property near Tanglewood, launching a new 10-day upset bid period where other offers must top $5.39 million.

This marks the fifth bid since Forsyth County opened the site for both business and potential residential development.

The land has been marketed as a business park since 2009, but momentum has shifted as homebuilders step forward with neighborhood plans.

The current bidding kicked off with Williams Development at $4 million, followed by Keystone Homes and a series of rapid offers, propelling Arden Homes into the lead.

Arden is active throughout the Triad and currently ranks as the area’s 12th most prolific builder.

Any proposed housing would require rezoning and changes to county restrictions, with concerns raised about already strained infrastructure.

🏀 UNC Makes a Shocking Move:

The University of North Carolina is reportedly set to hire longtime NBA coach Michael Malone as its next men’s basketball head coach, marking a major departure from tradition for the Tar Heels.

Malone, a recent NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets, has no direct ties to UNC or recent college coaching experience.

This move breaks away from the “Carolina family” approach, where leaders like Dean Smith, Roy Williams, and Hubert Davis were promoted from within.

After several turbulent seasons under Davis, UNC appears determined to reinvent itself amid rising challenges in recruiting, the transfer portal, and NIL competition.

Malone’s reputation for player development and adaptable coaching could bring fresh energy to Chapel Hill, but it leaves pressing questions about recruiting and college competition.

This bold hire immediately shakes up the ACC and local basketball scene, signaling UNC’s shift toward a modern, results-driven era.

College basketball in North Carolina just took an exciting new turn.

Bidding War Erupts Over Tanglewood Business Park

Tanglewood Business Park in Clemmons is attracting major attention as a fierce bidding war unfolds for its 167-acre site.

Keystone Homes recently outbid Williams Development Group with a $4.63 million offer, setting the new minimum bid at $4.86 million.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will decide the park’s future once the bidding settles, maintaining the right to reject offers.

Marketed for business since 2009 but slow to attract tenants, the property may now pivot to residential use if approved, requiring rezoning and changes to restrictive covenants.

The competition, which began in January, shows keen developer interest amid rising property values in Clemmons, where the median home value is $380,676.

The Village of Clemmons is pushing forward with its ambitious Village Point Phase II plan, spotlighting a new amphitheater complex and farmers market complex designed to boost community connection and local commerce.

Recently, the council approved contracts with a design firm, allocating $35,000 for the farmers market and $48,500 for the amphitheater, plus $45,900 for accessibility design.

The farmers market will move from the Jerry Long Family YMCA to a permanent, open-air structure equipped with amenities like Wi-Fi and power, supporting year-round and evening events.

The proposed amphitheater will serve as a cultural hub for concerts, performances, and gatherings, aiming for inclusivity and diverse entertainment.

Meanwhile, the Village Point Operations Center is almost complete, set to add office space, storage, and public restrooms.

Clemmons continues to invest in vibrant spaces, supporting both residents and local businesses through dynamic, forward-thinking development.
