Quote Of The Day

"No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn."

— Hal Borland

Allen Daniel, a lifelong Clemmons resident and West Forsyth High School alumnus, is running for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education, District 2.

With a background in IT and local government accounting, Daniel aims to restore fiscal accountability, support classroom teachers, and boost student outcomes.

He cites personal experience as a local educator and events such as the district’s $46 million budget shortfall and a student tragedy as his call to action.

Daniel advocates for greater transparency, including a public-facing budget dashboard and monthly financial reports.

He favors redirecting funds to teachers over raising taxes and believes strong schools are essential for community vitality.

Active in both faith and dance communities, Daniel values Clemmons’ small-town character and supports thoughtful growth to ensure a high quality of life for residents.

Mocksville, North Carolina, is making headlines as Lithuanian manufacturer SBA Home launches its first U.S. facility at the Davie Industrial Center.

This $70 million investment will create a state-of-the-art, highly automated factory set to produce furniture for top retailers like IKEA, including the popular Kallax storage cubes and Billy bookshelves.

When production begins in late 2025, about 250 new jobs will be offered, with average annual wages topping $53,000—well above local averages—for positions across manufacturing, warehousing, and administration.

Supported by nearly $2.7 million in state and local incentives, this facility promises a $13 million annual payroll impact and highlights the area’s rich furniture-making history.

SBA Home will also fund new pickleball courts at Rich Park and commit 200 volunteer hours annually, showing strong community ties.

This major development strengthens Mocksville as a premier hub for furniture manufacturing and economic innovation.

Mortgage Rates as of 3.2.2026

Crescent Communities, a Charlotte-based developer, has announced plans for HARMON Clemmons, its second build-to-rent townhome project in the Triad.

The proposed 21-acre community near Lewisville-Clemmons Road and I-40 will feature 154 townhomes with private yards, garages, and amenities like an outdoor pool and clubhouse.

Senior Managing Director Tony Chen explained the demand for rental homes is rising as high mortgage rates push families to seek alternatives to ownership.

Some Clemmons residents, however, worry that more rentals could impact property values and change the community’s character, fueling a debate over suburban development. We would love to hear your thoughts. Comment on the facebook post.

This project highlights a wider trend in North Carolina, with over 12,000 new single-family rentals added statewide in 2025—driven by job growth and remote workers.

As construction is set to begin, Clemmons faces weighing growth opportunities against preserving its local identity.

Forsyth Country Day captured the NCISAA 4A boys basketball state championship with a spirited 69-59 win over Providence Day at Greensboro’s Novant Health Fieldhouse.

Facing an early 10-point gap, the Furies seized momentum in the final minute of the opening quarter with a spectacular coast-to-coast slam by Jayon Connor, followed by an alley-oop to Prince Nwokemodo.

Connor energized his team with 10 first-half points, while JR Adams and the Furies’ reliable free-throw shooting secured control.

Providence Day battled back, but foul trouble hampered their efforts.

Nwokemodo’s bursts in the paint and a strong backcourt performance from Connor, Q Williams, and Adams (40 points combined) proved decisive.

This triumph marks Forsyth Country Day’s third state championship — and second in three years — capping off an impressive 29-3 season.

Providence Day finished 23-7, led by Zeke Battier’s 16 points, cementing a memorable season for both programs.
