Every second matters in a cardiac emergency.
Duke Health has launched a pioneering drone program in Clemmons, North Carolina, delivering automated external defibrillators (AEDs) directly to 911 callers.
Designed to reduce delays from traffic and distance, these drones fly at up to 40 mph, reaching patients faster than traditional emergency crews.
Arriving within minutes, each drone lowers an AED for bystanders to use immediately, guided step-by-step by emergency operators.
Dr. Monique Starks from Duke Health said speeding up AED access could raise survival rates from 10% to as high as 70%.
Initial tests show drone response times now beat ambulances by several vital minutes, especially in rural zones.
This innovation, supported by Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough, could become a national model and dramatically boost survival chances for local residents facing cardiac arrest. Read More... |

The Hough Huskies surged into the NCHSAA 8A West Regional final after overpowering West Forsyth 28-10 in a pivotal playoff clash.
Quarterback Ethan Royal proved unstoppable, tossing three touchdown passes and igniting the Huskies' high-powered offense.
Despite West Forsyth's top-ranked defense, which hadnât allowed more than 10 points since September, the Titans struggled to slow Houghâs dynamic attack.
Royalâs pinpoint throws found Jayden White, Jahmere Anderson, and Mason Pearsall-Brown for scores, while Jason Wilkersonâs key interception set up a crucial touchdown run by Jamarion Morrison.
The Titans kept fighting, highlighted by Haines Robitzerâs 27-yard touchdown strike, but untimely penalties and Houghâs relentless pace kept West Forsyth at bay.
With the win, Hough now prepares to host West Charlotte for a shot at the state championship. Read More... |
