Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium Rescheduled to Wednesday Due to Historic Snowfall

NASCAR's pre-season exhibition race faces multiple delays amid severe winter weather in North Carolina

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 4, following a historic snowfall that blanketed North Carolina over the weekend. The region experienced nearly a foot of snow, leading to hazardous road conditions and prompting NASCAR officials to prioritize safety for fans and participants alike.

Originally slated for Sunday, the event was first postponed to Monday, February 2. However, as the extent of the snowfall became apparent, a further delay was deemed necessary. Justin Swilling, Project Lead for the Cook Out Clash, emphasized the importance of fan safety and community well-being, stating,

"Moving the Cook Out Clash to Wednesday, Feb. 4 gives us the best opportunity to hold this event with fans at Bowman Gray Stadium while allowing the City of Winston-Salem to dedicate all of their resources to respond to the needs created by this historic weather event."

The revised schedule for Wednesday includes NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying at 1:30 p.m. ET, available live on the FOX Sports App. The Last Chance Qualifier is set for 4:30 p.m. ET, followed by the main event, the Cook Out Clash, at 6 p.m. ET, both broadcast live on FOX. Fans can also tune in via MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio for comprehensive coverage.

NASCAR is collaborating closely with the City of Winston-Salem and the North Carolina Department of Transportation to monitor and address the ongoing impacts of the severe winter weather. Efforts are underway to ensure that the stadium and surrounding areas are safe and accessible for the rescheduled event.

For attendees, parking lots will open at 11:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, with off-site shuttle services commencing at noon. Gates to the stadium will open at 12:30 p.m. ET. Fans holding tickets can find more information and updates by visiting the official event website or contacting the provided helpline.

This series of postponements underscores the challenges posed by unexpected weather events and highlights NASCAR's commitment to the safety and experience of its fans and participants. As the community works together to recover from the snowfall, anticipation builds for the Cook Out Clash at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium, affectionately known as "The Madhouse."

Fans are encouraged to stay updated through official  NASCAR channels and to prepare for winter conditions when attending the rescheduled event. The collective efforts of the community, city officials, and NASCAR aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all involved.
