Lewisville is throwing its first-ever Community Day — and it's already got something for everyone

Disc golf, recycling drives, public art, and a chance to meet the volunteers who quietly keep your town running — all at Mary Alice Warren Community Center and Jack Warren Park on Saturday, May 2.

Lewisville has a lot going on behind the scenes — boards, committees, volunteers doing real work for the town week in and week out. Most residents never get to see it. That changes on May 2.

The inaugural Lewisville Community Day brings it all out into the open, literally, at Jack Warren Park and the Mary Alice Warren Community Center. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the town's committees will fan out across the park with games, hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and a few surprises still to be announced.

"We hope people will come out for a laid-back family fun day to enjoy the park, learn a little more about the town, and spend time in their community."

— Stacy Tolbert, Lewisville Town Manager

The idea grew out of a 2025 staff conversation about visibility. Lewisville's boards and committees do meaningful volunteer work, but most residents don't know who's doing it or why it matters. Staff pitched the concept to council, who signed on, and a planning sub-committee — one rep from each board — got to work building something worth showing up for.

What's happening in the park?

Environment, Conservation & Sustainability Committee

Annual Earth Day celebration plus a Special Recycling collection — a rare chance to properly dispose of hard-to-recycle items. Sustainable vendors will also be on-site.

Parks & Recreation Committee

A family-friendly disc golf tournament open to all skill levels, plus bocce ball, cornhole, and more. Watch the town's social media for tournament details.

Public Art Advisory Committee

Art in the park — and a chance to make some yourself. Residents will have opportunities to participate alongside the installations.

Lewisville Beautification Committee

Kid-friendly activities paired with a look at the committee's garden work around town — a good entry point for families curious about local green spaces.

Planning Board & Zoning Board of Adjustment

Members will be out in force — helping attendees navigate the park, answering questions, and being accessible in a way that doesn't usually happen at town hall.

The event is rain or shine, so there's no excuse to skip it. Whether you're bringing kids, flying solo, or just looking for a reason to spend a Saturday morning outside, May 2 at Jack Warren Park is the place to be.
