Pleasant Provisions, U-Bowl, and Istanbul Gyro and Burger Opened Recently

Winston-Salem's culinary landscape is experiencing a vibrant transformation with the arrival of several new dining establishments, each bringing unique flavors and concepts to the city.

Pleasants Provisions, a combination restaurant and specialty market, has recently opened its doors at 830 W. Fourth Street in the West End neighborhood. This innovative spot offers a chef-driven menu alongside a curated selection of locally sourced groceries, including fresh produce, cheeses, beer, wine, and ready-made meals. The restaurant's menu features Southeast Asian-inspired dishes, such as beef katsu curry, Thai chicken laab, and sesame noodles, reflecting Chef Matt Pleasants' culinary experiences in Vietnam and Thailand. Currently in a soft opening phase, Pleasants Provisions plans to expand its offerings in the coming weeks.

Istanbul Gyro & Burger has introduced authentic Turkish cuisine to the downtown area. Located at 216 W. Fourth Street, this family-owned restaurant specializes in chicken and lamb doner—thinly sliced, seasoned meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie. The menu also includes burgers, fresh salads, and a variety of desserts and ice creams. The owners, who relocated from Turkey three years ago, aim to share their traditional recipes with the local community.

A fresh dining option has also arrived in the Robinhood Road area, bringing a modern twist to a longtime neighborhood spot. U Bowl has officially opened at 5257 Robinhood Village Drive, taking over the former China Dragon location in the Robinhood Village shopping center. The fast-casual concept centers around fully customizable Asian bowls, allowing guests to choose their base, protein, vegetables and sauces for a made-to-order meal. In addition to its build-your-own bowls, U Bowl also offers pan-fried dumplings, crispy sesame balls, savory soups and classic stir-fry dishes. With a counter-service setup geared toward quick lunches, easy weeknight dinners or convenient takeout, U Bowl is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

These new establishments are contributing to the dynamic and diverse dining scene in nearby Winston-Salem, offering Lewisville-Clemmons residents and visitors a range of culinary experiences to explore.
