Seth Trimble's Buzzer-Beater Seals UNC's Thrilling Victory Over Duke

Tar Heels Overcome 13-Point Deficit to Triumph in Rivalry Showdown

Seth Trimble etched his name into UNC lore with a dramatic game-winning three-pointer, lifting the Tar Heels to an epic 71-68 victory over Duke in a classic college basketball rivalry matchup and possibly the best rivalry in all of sports.

With the game deadlocked at 68 and mere seconds remaining, Trimble found himself unguarded in the corner. Seizing the moment, he received a precise pass from Derek Dixon and launched a shot that swished through the net with 0.4 seconds left on the clock. After he made the shot, realizing it was the game winner, he quickly made the "night-night" gesture placing his head on his folded hands implying "game over".

The Smith Center erupted as fans stormed the court in jubilation. However, officials reviewed the play and determined time remained, prompting an announcement to clear the court. After a brief pause, Duke had one last opportunity, but their desperation heave fell short, igniting a second, unrestrained celebration.

Trimble's heroics capped a remarkable comeback for UNC, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half. Caleb Wilson led the charge with 23 points, while Henri Veesaar contributed 13 points, all after halftime, including a crucial three-pointer that tied the game late.

On the opposing side, Cameron Boozer paced Duke with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Despite his efforts, the Blue Devils saw their 10-game winning streak snapped in a heart-wrenching fashion.

Reflecting on the moment, Trimble expressed, "It's special. I'm going to remember this for the rest of my life." His shot not only secured the win but also added a new chapter to the storied UNC-Duke rivalry, reminiscent of past buzzer-beaters that have defined this fierce competition.

Looking ahead, UNC is set to face Miami on Tuesday night, aiming to build on this momentum. Meanwhile, Duke will seek to rebound as they travel to Pittsburgh for their next matchup.

In the annals of college basketball, moments like these are cherished, and Seth Trimble's clutch performance ensures his place in UNC history.
