West Forsyth Titans Triumph Over Mallard Creek Mavericks in NCHSAA Playoffs

Dominant Defense Propels Titans to 22-10 Victory, Advancing to Face Hough Huskies

West Forsyth Players are Stoked in Win Over Mallard Creek Mavericks

The West Forsyth Titans showcased a formidable defense in their recent NCHSAA playoff matchup, securing a 22-10 win against the Mallard Creek Mavericks.

From the outset, the Titans' defense set the tone.

Early in the first quarter, a high snap on a Mallard Creek punt resulted in a safety, granting West Forsyth an initial 2-0 lead.

Shortly thereafter, linebacker Keith Taylor recovered a fumble at the Mavericks' 9-yard line, leading to a 2-yard touchdown run by Mozes Morris.

With the successful extra point, the Titans extended their advantage to 9-0.

The defensive prowess continued as Taylor deflected a pass, allowing defensive lineman P.J. Dean to intercept and return it for a touchdown.

Another extra point pushed the score to 16-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Mallard Creek responded in the second quarter.

Quarterback Cailen Napier executed a 29-yard run, setting up his own 7-yard touchdown rush.

With the extra point, the Mavericks narrowed the gap to 16-7 at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Titans' defense thwarting Mallard Creek's advances.

After Napier exited due to injury, backup quarterback Sam Cheeseboro led a drive to the Titans' 1-yard line.

However, the defense held firm, stopping a fourth-and-goal attempt.

Later, the Mavericks managed a 28-yard field goal, bringing the score to 16-10.

In the final quarter, Morris broke free for a 56-yard touchdown run, his second of the night.

Although the extra point was missed, the Titans solidified their lead at 22-10.

Mallard Creek's subsequent drives were stifled, and West Forsyth ran out the clock to seal the victory.

With this win, the Titans improve to a 10-2 record and advance to face the Hough Huskies in the next round of the  NCHSAA playoffs.

The Huskies, known for their stout defense, will present a formidable challenge.

Meanwhile, Mallard Creek concludes their season with a 7-4 record.

Looking ahead, the Titans will need to maintain their defensive intensity and capitalize on offensive opportunities to continue their playoff run.

Fans are encouraged to support the team as they strive for a spot in the state championship.

For those unable to attend, the game will be available for replay on the official streaming partner of the NC High School Athletic Association.

Stay tuned for more updates as the Titans' journey in the NCHSAA playoffs continues.
