NCDOT Advances Lewisville-Clemmons Road Improvements Amid Clemmons' Growth |
Major infrastructure project set to enhance safety and traffic flow in rapidly developing Clemmons |
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is progressing with the U-6004 project, aiming to improve Lewisville-Clemmons Road from U.S. 158 to South Peace Haven Road in Clemmons.
This initiative seeks to address safety concerns and alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
Recent updates indicate a significant increase in the project's budget, now estimated at approximately $70.7 million.
The revised funding plan includes allocations for right-of-way acquisitions, utility adjustments, and construction phases spanning from fiscal years 2024 through 2033.
Notably, the construction phase is slated to commence in fiscal year 2027, with substantial investments planned over the subsequent years.
It may take residents awhile to get used to the new traffic flow as there will be a new stop light at the Cracker Barrel entrance across from the Verizon Store at 2419 Lewisville Clemmons Rd.
And the current stop light between the Clemmons Market Shopping Center (Aldi anchor tenant) and Westwood Village Shopping Center (former Big Lots anchor tenant) will each be "right turn only exits".
Further, the McDonalds will be acquired by the state and relocated (relocation site TBD).
In addition to the U-6004 project, Clemmons is experiencing a surge in development.
The Village Council recently approved a final development plan for a property at 6604 Village Pointe Lake Drive, encompassing approximately 1.53 acres near I-40 and the Village Pointe Drive roundabout.
This approval reflects the village's commitment to accommodating growth while maintaining its community-oriented atmosphere.
Furthermore, the council addressed a contract bid for the Village Pointe Lake Drive office building, indicating ongoing efforts to enhance local infrastructure and services.
These developments underscore Clemmons' contribution to the community as a burgeoning hub of activity.
The introduction of new medical facilities, retail centers, and residential projects has provided residents with increased amenities and reduced the need to travel outside the village for services.
As Clemmons continues to evolve, the NCDOT's commitment to improving key transportation corridors like Lewisville-Clemmons Road is crucial.
These enhancements aim to ensure that the village's infrastructure keeps pace with its rapid growth, fostering a safer and more efficient environment for all. |
