Ryan Preece Triumphs in Weather-Challenged Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium

Emotional Victory Marks Preece's First NASCAR Cup Series Win Amid Unprecedented Conditions

In a race that tested both skill and resilience, Ryan Preece clinched his first NASCAR Cup Series victory at the Cook Out Clash held at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The event, originally slated for Sunday, faced multiple postponements due to severe winter weather, finally taking place on Wednesday night, February 4, 2026.

Despite the delays, fans braved the elements to witness this historic race.

Starting from the 18th position, Preece showcased exceptional driving prowess, navigating through a field of seasoned competitors.

The race was marked by a record-breaking 17 cautions, a testament to the challenging conditions on the quarter-mile track.

At the halfway mark, the race was halted due to a mix of rain and sleet, leading teams to switch to wet-weather tires.

These treacherous conditions added an extra layer of complexity, but Preece remained undeterred.

With 35 laps remaining, he seized the lead and maintained his position, ultimately crossing the finish line ahead of William Byron and Ryan Blaney.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Preece reflected on his journey, stating, "I don't even know what to say. It's been a long road. It's the Clash, but man, it's just been years and years of grinding."

He expressed deep gratitude towards his team and supporters, emphasizing the significance of this victory in his career.

Following his triumph, Preece wasted no time and headed to New Smyrna Speedway in Florida to participate in the 60th edition of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

The Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium not only highlighted Preece's talent but also underscored the unpredictable nature of racing.

Fans and fellow drivers alike praised his performance, acknowledging the challenges posed by the weather and the track.

As the NASCAR season progresses, all eyes will be on Preece to see if he can build on this momentum and secure further victories. His recent success has undoubtedly added an exciting dynamic to the series, promising thrilling races ahead.

Preece's victory serves as an inspiring reminder of perseverance and the unpredictable thrill of motorsports.
